The National Bank of Slovenia has approved the appointment of ZoranNemec as new Chairman of the Managing Board of Raiffeisen Krekova bankad.d.,the Slovenian subsidiary of Raiffeisen International Bank-HoldingAG (Raiffeisen International).Nemec follows Ales Zajdela, who leftRaiffeisen Krekova banka by mutual agreement earlier this year.
"With Zoran Nemec, Raiffeisen has hired a very experienced banker withan excellent track-record. He is very customer-oriented with a deepunderstanding of both corporate and retail business. The bank willcertainly also benefit of his managerial skills," said Herbert Stepic,Chairman of Raiffeisen Krekova banka''s Supervisory Board and CEO ofRaiffeisen International.
Before joining RKB, Nemec was Executive Director for the South EasternEuropean markets of Slovenia''s second largest bank Nova Kreditna BankaMaribor (NKBM).Nemec was born in 1956 and is a graduated economist.
Raiffeisen Krekova banka was established as Krekova banka in 1992 andacquired by Raiffeisen International in the spring of 2002 by a publicbid for the bank''s shares. Raiffeisen Krekova banka is the ninth largestbank in Slovenia, showing total assets of roughly€ 670 million at 31 December 2004 (plus 24 per cent compared with year-end 2003). It operates 13 outlets throughout the country and employs a staff of more than 300. The bank has its roots in retail business, but has expanded its corporate and investment banking activities significantly in recent years.
Raiffeisen International is the steering unit for the subsidiaries ofRaiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich AG (RZB)in Central and Eastern Europe(CEE). Its shares are traded on the Vienna Stock Exchange. RZB owns 70per cent, the balance is free-float. Raiffeisen International operatesthe leading banking network in CEE with 15 Network Banks and 14 leasingcompanies in 16 markets. More than 5.2 million customers are served viaapproximately 950 business outlets.
