Last night the renowned British financial magazine Euromoney held its annual Award for Excellence reception at the Vienna Hilton. Raiffeisen Zentralbank Osterreich AG (RZB) and its CEE subsidiary Raiffeisen International Bank-Holding AG received once again the prestigious award for Excellence as «Best Bank in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE)». At the same time, the Raiffeisen Network Banks in Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovakia received awards as «Best Bank» in their country. The award for «Best Debt House in Bulgaria» went to the local Raiffeisenbank. The fact that Euromoney had chosen Vienna as the location for the ceremony to present the awards to Eastern European and Austrian banks underlines the city’s increasing importance as a hub to the CEE countries.
This year the Award for Excellence for CEE was given to RZB and Raiffeisen International for the fourth consecutive year. «The decision of the jury confirms that we are on the right track. In a demanding market environment we were able to continue our profitable growth,» said Walter Rothensteiner, CEO of RZB and Chairman of Raiffeisen International's Supervisory Board. «The award honours that we have thoroughly advanced the integration of our acquired banks in 2007 and at the same time enlarged our client base by 1.6 million new customers,» added Herbert Stepic, CEO of Raiffeisen International.
For the fourth time in a row Raiffeisen Bank Sh.a. was elected «Best Bank in Albania». Raiffeisen International acquired this bank in 2004. With a balance sheet total of 1.9 billion euros at the end of 2007 the bank was by far the largest bank in Albania.
Priorbank, OAO was awarded «Best Bank in Belarus». With a balance sheet total of 1.1 billion euros at the end of 2007 the bank ranks number three in size in its country.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
After 2007 Raiffeisen Bank d.d. Bosna i Hercegovina won the award «Best Bank» again. With a balance sheet total that increased in 2007 by 23 percent up to 2.0 billion euros the bank ranks number two in its country.
The prize «Best Debt House» went to Raiffeisenbank (Bulgaria) EAD. In 2007, its balance sheet total increased by 55 percent to 3.8 billion euros and accounts for rank four on the Bulgarian market.
The Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo J. S.C. was chosen as «Best Bank in Kosovo». With an increased balance sheet total by 27 percent making 473 million euros at the end of 2007 the bank is the second largest bank in Kosovo.
Since its foundation in 2001 Raiffeisen banka a.d. in Belgrade has always received the award for Serbia. With a balance sheet total of 2.7 billion euros at the end of 2007 the bank is the country's second largest bank.
Once again awarded as «Best Bank in Slovakia» Tatra banka, a.s. continues its successful path. With a balance sheet total of 7.5 billion euros at year end 2007, which is an increase of 24 percent compared to the previous year, the bank holds rank number 3 in the Slovak market.
