Russia’s Raiffeisenbank: a Special Gift for Its Customers and Partners

In honour of its anniversary, Raiffeisenbank will give its customers and partners tickets to the world premiere of The Tempest in Russia.

2011 marks 15 years since the opening of Raiffeisenbank. In honour of its anniversary, the bank will give its clients, partners, and friends a special gift  tickets to a play premiere, which will open the Tenth Anton Chekhov International Theatre Festival. William Shakespeares The Tempest will be presented and produced by the British director Declan Donnellan, with the participation of Russian actors.

Raiffeisenbank, just like the entire Raiffeisen Group, has traditionally paid much attention to corporate responsibility, and, in particular, its participation in the humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Western countries. We strive to present the masterpieces of foreign cultures to Russian audiences, while participating in the sponsorship of the most prominent contemporary Russian projects.

2011 will be an anniversary year for Raiffeisenbank, as well as for the Anton Chekhov International Theatre Festival. The festival is a respected and significant cultural event within the scope of global theatre. It was with great pleasure that we entered into a partnership with this festival, thereby continuing the tradition of Raiffeisenbanks participation in creating a single cultural space without borders. I am sure that the audience will truly enjoy the play, noted Pavel Gurin, the Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisenbank.

The Chekhov International Festival is one of the largest cultural forums in the world. It is difficult to name stage masters whose performances were not represented at the festival over the years at least once. Established in 1992, the festival almost immediately won over the hearts of theatre fans. The festival is held every two years and it presents the worlds best performances in different communities. It also takes part in cultural events abroad.

Theatre for the people is the motto of the festival. It also strives to show all of the most interesting things in global theatre, to feed the starving gourmands, and, at the same time, to arrange an outing for the uninitiated (and sometimes even for random passerbys who know little about the world of theatre)  a task that is successfully carried out by the organizers. The Chekhov Festival teaches people to be amazed by the simple, to discover the unknown, to accept the inexplicable, and to just enjoy new and wonderful things.

Over the years, many famous people have appeared on the stages of the Chekhov International Theatre Festival: Matthew Bourne, Declan Donnellan, Robert LePage, Pina Bausch, Peter Brook, Philippe Jeanty, and various others.
